Helen M. Michoud, 93, of East Providence, died peacefully on Saturday, July 24, 2021 at Linn Health Care Center. She was the wife of the late Joseph W. Michoud. Born in Providence, she was a daughter of the late Elton I. Herrick and Helen M. (Dugay) Herrick.

Mrs. Michoud was one of the first Peace Corps volunteers, serving in Afghanistan for 7 years where she trained women to enter the workforce. She then moved to Hawaii, working with the Big Brothers & Big Sisters as office manager. She enjoyed traveling extensively throughout Europe, Asia, Africa, and the U.S. and was an accomplished painter.

She was a long time member of Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC.

She leaves her loving niece, The Rev. Dr. Claudia P. Demick, nephew, Bruce Herrick, and niece, Melissa Herrick Barker. She also leaves many grandnieces, grandnephews, great grandnephews, and her dear friend, Helen Crews. She was the sister of the late Lillian Smith, Margaret Peterson, Elton Herrick, Myrtle Herrick, and Ruth Perreault.

Her family is grateful to the staff of the Linn Health Care Center for the wonderful care she received from them.

Her Service of Remembrance & Thanksgiving will be held Saturday, September 11, 2021 at 11:00 A.M. in Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC, 600 Fall River Avenue, Seekonk, MA. Burial in Bushnell National Cemetery will be private.

In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Seekonk Congregational Church, UCC will be appreciated.
