George J. Travers
George J. Travers, 92, of Rumford died Thursday, November 11, 2021 at the Brentwood Nursing Home in Warwick. He was the husband of the late Edith (Bean) Travers.
George was born in Providence, the son of the late Joseph and Cecelia E. (Oliver) Travers, Jr.
He was a manager for many years at the Bulova Watch Company, before retiring.
George was a U.S. Army Veteran, attaining the rank of Sergeant First Class, before his discharge. He has been a resident of Rumford for over 25 years, coming from Fox Point, Providence, where hew spent most of his life.
George was a Life Member of the Teofilo Braga Club, in East Providence.
He enjoyed boating, fishing and loved animals. He is survived by many cousins.
George was the father of the late Joseph Michael Travers, and the stepfather of the late James Lawless.
His funeral service will be held Tuesday Nov. 16, 2021, at 10:45 am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 9:30am -10:30am. Burial will be private.
