Evelyn DiRobbio (Evans)

Evelyn DiRobbio (Evans), 92, of Mauran Avenue, East Providence, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, August 23, 2021, in the presence of her loved ones. She was the treasured wife of Joseph A. DiRobbio for seventy years.

Born in East Providence, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Louis and Virginia (Ponte) Evans. She was a lifelong resident of East Providence and a communicant of St. Martha's Church. Evelyn worked in the jewelry industry, most notably at Hedison Manufacturing and Universal Optical. After her retirement, she had an "encore career" caring for her grandchildren. She was a wonderful grandmother and always known to have butterscotch candy on hand. She enjoyed meeting her sisters for lunch at Warwick Mall and loved celebrating holidays with her family, especially hosting Christmas Eve sing-alongs.

Evelyn and Joe met in 1949 and married in 1951. They lovingly raised three daughters and liked to travel.

Besides her husband, Evelyn is survived by her daughters Carol Papino and her husband Carl of Cranston and Lori Hurley and her companion Glenn Robinson, Esq. of Barrington. She was also the beloved mother of the late Cynthia DiRobbio and the cherished grandmother of Matthew Papino and Susan Papino of Cranston; Jacqueline Wynn of Naples, FL; Andrew Papino of Melbourne, FL; Ryan Hurley of Seekonk; and Meghan Hurley of Worcester. In addition, she leaves three great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter. She was the sister of Mary Delores Point of Bristol and the late Mary Gonsalves, Louise DiPanni, Manuel, Louis, Joseph, John, and Anthony Evans, and Isabelle Pimental. Evelyn is also survived by many nieces and nephews and her devoted caregiver Connie Cabral.

Her funeral and visitation will be held on Saturday, August 28, 2021, from 8:30-9:30 AM at the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at St. Martha's Church, 2595 Pawtucket Ave. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Providence,
