Eleanor (Milner) Tavares
Eleanor (Milner) Tavares, "Ellie in the Deli",79 of Rumford, originally from Seekonk passed away peacefully in the comfort of her home, Monday January 31,2022 after a brief illness. Born in Providence, a daughter to the late David and Louise (Balkcom) Milner. She was the wife of Francisco "Frank" Tavares, they were married for over 63 years.
She is survived by her sons Frank L. Tavares of East Providence, David Tavares of Seekonk, and daughter Dorette Proulx of Rehoboth.9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren,2 nieces and 2 nephews.
She was the sister of the late Gail Ramella formerly of Riverside.
"Ellie in the Deli" originated when she began working as a deli clerk in the former Food Mart in Pawtucket, before transferring to Shaw's Super Markets, ultimately retiring as Seafood Dept. Manager and Union Steward.
Eleanor wanted to be remembered as loving and always reaching out to lend a hand to anyone in need.
She thoroughly enjoyed ceramics, flowers and caring for her pets. She loved to go boating with her husband.
Her funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 8,2022 at 10:00am in the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence.
Entombment will follow at the Swan Point Cemetery Mausoleum,585 Blackstone Boulevard, Providence.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Calling hours are Monday, February 7, 2022,from 4:00pm- 7:00pm.
