Donald C. Tremblay

Donald C. Tremblay, 78, (Ret. E.P.P.D.), passed away on Thursday, April 29, 2021.
Donald was a retired East Providence Police Detective and DCYF investigator. Prior to his police career, he was a veteran of the United States Air Force, stationed in Okinawa, where he proudly earned a black belt in Uechi-Ryu.

Don is survived by his long-time companion, Christine Frati, daughter, Dana Danehy and her husband Matthew of Mansfield, MA, and son, Stephen Tremblay, and his wife Nicole of North Smithfield. He was the loving grandfather of Margaret, Grace, Lilian, and Brendan Danehy, and Noelle, Abigail, and Michael Tremblay. He also leaves his sisters Claudette Goucher and her husband Ken of East Providence, Jean Cardoza of Pawtucket and Debra Leary of Cumberland, as well as many nieces and nephews, who will miss their “Uncle Donald”. Don was the son of the late Joseph and Cecilia (Henriques) Tremblay and the brother of the late Carol Costa and Gerald Tremblay.

Don was a man of great faith and a communicant of Saint Raymond’s Church in Providence. He enjoyed golfing, vacationing in Maine, and was a car enthusiast. Among his favorite pastimes, Don relished spending time with friends and family, especially his grandchildren, and was often the life of the party.

Don touched many with his honesty and sincerity, as well as a great sense of humor and fun-loving attitude, with practical jokes being a particular favorite of his. The loss of such a devoted father, companion, brother, uncle, and grandfather will be felt by so many.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 7, 2021, at 10:00 AM in Saint Raymond’s Church, 1240 North Main Street, Providence. Burial with Military Honors will be held in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Thursday, May 6, 2021, from 4-7 in the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the East Providence Police Beneficial Association, 75 Waterman Avenue, East Providence, RI 02914.
