Charles H. Saunders

Charles H. Saunders,93 of East Providence was the beloved husband of the late L. Carol (Doherty) Saunders. He passed away January 5, 2023.

Born in Providence the son of the late Leon W. & Marion (Walsh) Saunders & Stepson of the late Beatrice (Pearson) Saunders. He was a resident of East Providence since 1959, previously living on Jefferson St. Providence. He attended St. Patrick School & graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School class of 1947.

Mr. Saunders was a US Navy Veteran of the Korean War. He worked in Real Estate for many years in Barrington and he retired from the Providence Gas Co. in 1994. After retiring he worked part-time for the Rebello Funeral Home for 18 years. Mr. Saunders was previously a member of Sacred Heart Parish, East Providence, and President of the Parish Council. He was also a member and President of the East Providence Jr. & Sr. High School PTA. He was a long-time member & President of the East Providence Kiwanis Club. He is a communicant of St Brendan’s Church Riverside, RI.

He is survived by 6 Sons: Charles H Saunders Jr. (Beth) of Barrington, RI, James M., Joseph P. (Cindy), Mark C., (Maggie) Saunders of Riverside, RI, Michael F. Saunders (Patty)of Bristol, RI, & David A Saunders (Patti) of North Port, FL. Two daughters Deborah J. Lewis of Barrington, RI & Gail F Maxwell (David) of Riverside, RI, and the late Carol A. Saunders. One sister Dorothy Drapeau of Seekonk, MA, and a brother William Saunders of West Virginia. He was the brother of the late e Rowena Saunders, Leon W Saunders Jr. and Veronica Feeney. He also leaves 14 Grandchildren & 10 Great Grandchildren. He was the grandfather of the late Peter J. Saunders

The funeral will be from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI, on Friday, January 13 2023 at 8:30am with a Mass of Christian Burial in St Brendan’s Church, 60 Turner Ave, Riverside at 10 :00 AM.

Burial with Military Honors will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Thursday 4:00pm –7:00pm. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to the Scholarship Foundation of EP
