Carol A. (Nascimento) Kogut passed away on April 24, 2021 in Providence. She was the wife of Anthony Kogut Carol was welcomed home by her loving parents, the late Edmund and Lois (King) Nascimento and her “older” siblings, the late Robert E. Nascimento and Barbara (Nascimento) McNeil Nicolls.

Carol was born on September 14,1946 in Providence, RI and remained in Riverside for most of her life. She attended East Providence High School and was a majorette during that time, graduating with the class of ’64. Carol kept close ties with the local community alongside her sister and mother who were all active in the Riverside Little League for many years.

While her true dream was to attend Clown College, Carol chose to put that aside after graduation and start a career working at Sheppard’s Department Store where she eventually worked her way up to Buyer. It was while working for Sheppard’s that she met the love of her life, Tony, through mutual friends. They dated for a couple of years and married on September 26,1970, spending the next 50 plus years together.

Carol eventually changed jobs and began working for Aetna Casualty at their Fall River office in 1970. Carol is remembered fondly by her staff as a true leader who respected and cared about her team of employees. She eventually retired after 26 years, achieving 20+ years of perfect attendance while with them!

After retiring from Aetna, Carol decided retirement wasn’t really for her and accepted a position at Riverside Congregational Church as the Church Secretary. While a member of the Church she joined the choir and bell groups, enjoying followship with her Church community.

Throughout her life though, family came first for Carol. She was a constant presence at all family events from baptisms to funerals and everything in between! Carol was the family historian, often entertaining everyone with the stories of the Nascimento/King family shenanigans at gatherings. Her relationship to her nieces and nephews was special and unique, and she was always available, no matter what the need. She remained an active and loving part of their lives right up to her passing.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Edward Nascimento, and his wife, Elizabeth, of Lakeland, FL; nephews Joseph McNeil and his wife, Donna, of East Providence, Stephen McNeil and his wife, Melissa, of Riverside; nieces Dunja Nascimento-Wilson and her wife, Christine, of Clayton, NC and Nadja (Nascimento) McLintock and her husband, Robert, of Swansea, MA; and nephew Nathan Nascimento and his wife, Rachele, of Sterling, VA.

One of the greatest joys of her later life was getting to watch a whole second generation of nieces and nephews grow up! She was tremendously proud of her extended family and could often be heard bragging on all her great nieces and nephews to whomever would listen!

Services and burial will be private at the request of the family.
