The GFWC Taunton Junior Woman's Club

Posted

The GFWC Taunton Junior Woman's Club welcomed guest speaker from Vest-a-Dog,Diane Whittaker and her dog Quinn, to the clubs March meeting. Quinn is a trained cadaver dog. He came here from Tiger Mountains Pointing Labradors as a puppy to be with his owner Diane. Dogs like Quinn start at 6 months old to be trained on imprinting odors, and he is highly trained to search out victims of crime, or those who are lost, or deceased as part of his job. The GFWC Taunton Juniors raised funds to purchase a vest for one of the dogs, to protect them in high risk situations. Sgt. Frank Pacheco and his dog Kyro were also invited but were unable to attend due to illness. Each month the club invites a speaker to educate or entertain. In April the members will welcome Linda Jableky from Pets as Therapy . Women 18 or older are invited to attend any club meeting and should call Joyce at 508 823-4482 if they are interested. The meetings are held on the first Monday of the month, September to May at 7:00 p.m.at the Silver Platter Restaurant located at Bristol Plymouth Regional Tech High School on County Street in Taunton. You can find them on Facebook and at www.gfwctauntonraynhamjuniors.org.
