Pinecroft School Enjoys Save the Bay Enrichment Program

Posted

Students at The Pinecroft School in Rehoboth recently enjoyed a two-part science enrichment program and field trip presented by RI's Save the Bay. During the classroom portion at school, students learned all about harbor seals from "Seal-ia" and her environmental educator friends, in anticipation of their upcoming boat trip. The adventure continued in Narragansett Bay and at the Save the Bay Exploration Center in Newport. Out on the open water in the education vessel the Alletta Morris, each student was provided with a pair of binoculars to view the seals at Citing Rock. The crew had an underwater camera they were using for the 1st time and welcomed the students to observe what was underneath the sea on the screens. After the boat ride, students visited the aquarium where they were able to hold starfish, crabs, sea urchins and a host of other sea creatures as they learned all about them!
