Martin Middle Wrestling Wins McGee Tournament for 3rd Straight Year

For the 3rd consecutive year, E.R. Martin Middle School has won the prestigious annual McGee Wrestling Tournament held in Berlin, Connecticut on Saturday Feb 6th. The tourney features three divisions; 6th, 7th and 8th grades.

Martin took home first place in the 7th and 8th grade divisions and 3rd place for the 6th graders. Head Coach Bobby Rodericks said his team has put aside the McGee trophy for now as they get ready to prepare all week for the R.I. Middle School State Championship next weekend. "Another week of hard work and dedication," said Rodericks. "This is when we turn the corner and start sprinting toward the finish line," Rodericks added.

"We are favored to finish high in the states and it adds to the pressure on these kids. We'll keep them on their toes even more. They know the job isn't done yet." Martin is undefeated this year in dual meets and is the defending State Middle School Champion.
