Sunday will be a big day of Playoff Basketball at East Providence High School. Both the girls and boys teams will be in an action-packed doubleheader starting at 4 pm. The Lady Townies will take on Johnston High at 4 pm. "We needed a road win for a home playoff game and we got a big one," said Townie girls basketball coach Michael Solitro. Indeed the Lady Townies traveled to South Kingstown on Tuesday, February 16th and beat a good Prout team 38-36. The Townies will play on this Sunday at 4pm at the high school. The Townies finished with a 15-7 overall record and 11-7 in league play. The game will be followed by the boys' basketball playoff game at 6 pm.

The boys basketball team finished at 17-4 and 12-4 in division play heading into Sunday's playoff game at the high school. "We've had a very good year, you're playing well," Head Coach Alex Butler told his team after a recent loss to Hendricken. In that game, Zack Veiga had 21 points follwed by Jaron Santos with 17. "We missed too many shots and layups tonight but we did better in the second half. But the game got away from us," said Butler. I don't take away from Hendricken, they deserved the win. But I think we're capable of improving." The boys will play Central High at 6pm. It will be an exciting Sunday of schoolboy-schoolgirl playoff basketball for sure.

Bay View at 11-7 (15-8 overall) will take on Barrington at 10-8 in a Division 1 Quarterfinal playoff game on Tuesday February 23rd at Barrington. BayView has been a strong team all season as has Barrington. It should be another great game on Tuesday.

Have Sunday brunch or early dinner and bring the family to the beautifully restored EPHS Gymnasium today at 4:pm for some exciting schoolboy-schoolgirl athletics.
