Tell Your Story: Poetry Slam!
Saturday, April 1 & Sunday, April 2 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Fool your friends and get silly with words! Read and explore diffrent styles of poetry, rearrange words on a magnetic wall, and write your own funny limerick.

Imagination Playground
Monday, April 3 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Kids stack and build with big blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts to construct castles and forts, invent interesting sculptures and more!

Play and Learn: In the Kitchen
Tuesday, April 4 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers cook up some fun as they pretend in a woodland “kitchen.”


Collage Creators
Tuesday, April 4 - Sunday, April 9 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Children create funky works of art from an array of colorful fabrics and papers in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s hands-on art and science exploration space, and make object collages from natural and craft materials.


Toddler Try-It: Rainbow Collage
Friday, April 7 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, use real tools and explore the creative process as they delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers collage with a colorful array of papers.


Paper Caper
Saturday, April 8 & Sunday, April 9 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Kids fold and crease paper to create whirligigs, design gliders and fashion other fabulous flying contraptions – then send them soaring! Recommended for ages 5 and up.


Imagination Playground

Kids stack and build with big blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts to construct castles and forts, invent interesting sculptures and more!

Play and Learn: Fishing Fun

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers practice hand-eye coordination and explore the power of magnets as they catch colorful paper fish.

Farm Friends

Families join Rhode Island farmers and 4-H club members to meet farm animals including bunnies, sheep and pigs in the Museum’s Children’s Garden.

Stick Structures
Saturday, April 15 & Sunday, April 16 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Families build huge three-dimensional structures from wooden dowels and rubber bands. Create structures that are large enough to climb inside and construct a giant cube that stands up on its own!


Animal Experiences
Monday, April 17 • 11:30 AM, 1:00 PM & 2:30 PM
Meet an awesome assortment of live animals! Children have close encounters with dozens of furry friends, slithering snakes and other incredible creatures and learn fascinating facts about them from animal expert Dave Marchetti of Animal Experiences. Recommended for ages 4 and up.

Wingmasters
Tuesday, April 18 • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Families learn about majestic birds of prey with licensed raptor rehabilitator Julie Collier. Meet a red-tailed hawk, a falcon, a tiny owl and other magnificent raptors. Shows at 10:00 & 11:00 AM and 1:00 & 2:00 PM; recommended for ages 4 and up.

No Time to Waste

Kids and adults learn what's so funny about trash during an interactive family comedy that gives a lighthearted look at the three R’s of protecting the environment – reducing, reusing and recycling. Four 20-minute shows at 10:30 AM, 11:30 AM, 12:30 PM and 1:30 PM; recommended for ages 5 and up.

The Museum is open free from 5:00 - 8:00 PM for “MetLife Family Friday – Free at Five!,” sponsored by MetLife Foundation. Stay out late and splash, play, explore and discover!


Eco Explorers
Saturday, April 22 & Sunday, April 23 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
In celebration of Earth Day, try a variety of activities exploring conservation in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s hands-on art and science exploration space. Play a recyclable sorting game, stamp with tree pieces to create designs and patterns, craft with an assortment of recycled materials, and more.

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program especially for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers dip into a bounty of big beads to practice patterning and fine motor skills.


Animal Adventures
Tuesday, April 25 - Friday, April 28 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Create critters and craft wild habitats for animal play in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s art and science exploration space. Browse books to learn to identify different animal tracks and stamp a path of animal footprints.

Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, use real tools and explore the creative process as they delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers count and categorize a colorful array of bears and float boats to see how many bears they can carry.


Engineer It!: Materials Challenge
Saturday, April 29 & Sunday, April 30 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Kids complete different engineering challenges using simple household items. Build amazing structures using only cardboard squares, construct towers with popsicle sticks and clothespins, and create contraptions from paper tubes and straws.

Providence Children’s Museum ¬– play is powerful!
The Museum is located at 100 South Street in Providence’s Jewelry District. September through March, open Tuesday through Sunday and Monday school holidays, 9 AM to 6 PM, and selected Fridays until 8 PM. April through August, open 7 days.
