(September 6, 2017) – Join the fun at the Perfect Pumpkin Party – try your hand at pumpkin games, hunt for hidden pumpkins, be creative with pumpkin art and more. Audubon provides plenty of fright-free family fun in October. Just pack up the kids and go!

Tales and Trails

Join us for an hour-long story time and trail exploration just for preschoolers. Learn about the local animals that live in the habitats on the wildlife refuge - and maybe even spot a few! Come dressed for the outdoors.
October 4, 2017 - Who is in the Wetlands?
What kinds of animals live in the wetlands? Join us while we read “Jump Frog Jump” and learn about the journey from tadpole to frog. Then head down to the wetlands to explore! Can you spot a frog? How about a water bug?

Forest Fun with Audubon
Citizens Bank Free Family Fun Day

Thanks to Citizens Bank, the Environmental Education Center is open free to the public the first Saturday of every month. Join us for crafts, nature stories, animal discoveries, hikes and more. No need to register.
What will we find waiting in the forest? Let’s look under logs for buggy friends, search the tree tops for animal homes, and build a magical house for a fairy. Join us for forest fun all day! In case of bad weather, we will have plenty of indoor fun.

10:00 am & 1:30 pm: Woodland Tales
11:00 am: Forest Expedition - We will be doing a guided scavenger hunt, searching for insects and other small creatures, and collecting natural materials to build fairy homes.

11:00 am: Recycled Boats - Make a boat from recycled materials. Will it float? Let’s find out!

Junior Naturalists for Home-schooled Families

October 17 & 18, 2017; 1:30 – 3:00 pm
Our popular home-school program now lasts an hour and a half. That means more time for outdoor exploration, so come dressed for the weather. Join other home-schooled kids to learn about nature and science. This program will introduce participants to a different topic each class, with hands-on experiments and nature-based activities that are sure to foster a love of the natural world. Classes are limited to 15 children, so please register early. Adult must attend with child.
October 17 and 18, 2017 - Nature’s Decomposers

Audubon’s Perfect Pumpkin Party

October 28, 2017; 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
Join Audubon for a different kind of autumn celebration and find out just how much fun a pumpkin can be! Search for hidden pumpkins throughout the wildlife refuge, try your hand at pumpkin ring toss and other games then collect stickers for your own “patch.” Visit our silly photo booth for a fall family picture and purchase a pumpkin to decorate with creative art supplies. Don’t forget to come in costume – those who do will receive a prize. The party will include favorite games from last year as well as new activities – it’s all about the big orange pumpkin! No need to register.
