World Class Musicians to Lead Rudimental Drumming Workshop in Seekonk, MA

Posted

The Bristol County Fifes & Drums will be holding their Annual Workshop on Sunday, April 24 at the American Drum Company in Seekonk, MA from 3:30- 7:00 PM. Musicians of all skill levels are invited to come and participate in this fun, celebration of rudimental music.

This year, the BCFD is honored to welcome Brendan and Colin Mason, from the Connecticut Patriots Fife & Drum Corps, who will be giving clinics in rudimental drumming. Brendan, who is the current drum teacher for the BCFD, has taught rudimental drumming worldwide, including coaching members of The Old Guard and Royal Marines, Dutch Royal Marines, and clinics in China, Singapore, and future clinics in Argentina, Holland, and England. Colin currently instructs the Connecticut Hurricanes Drum and Bugle Corps and has also worked with 7th Regiment. Like his brother, Brendan, he has had the opportunity to perform clinics in the United States and abroad.

Experienced fifers Jenay Evans and Ranee Csigay, whose legacy goes back to the Village Volunteers of Delmar, NY, will be leading a lesson in fifing for any interested in learning the traditional woodwind instrument. Both Jenay and Ranee were trained in the traditional, Colonial Williamsburg method which led to their current success of leading the Bristol County Fifes & Drums for twenty-two seasons. They both had the opportunity to perform in Hyde Park, London in 2010 on an annual tour. They have traveled extensively throughout the country from Maine, to Florida, from Georgia to South Dakota, performing and educating the public on traditional music.

Please bring an instrument if you are a current musician, but it is not necessary as free sticks and fifes will be provided. Pizza will be served halfway through the workshop. It is encouraged that you pre-register by emailing bristolcountyfd@gmail.com  or contact the BCFD through the website, www.bristolcountyfifesanddrums.or
