The Return of the Howitzer
Looks like the voters have spoken and the cannon that caused local folk angst at the Veterans Memorial near the library is back in place. Now we have a war toy sitting next to a respectful monument to soldiers that gave their lives for their country. Does no one see the irony in placing a weapon like that at such a peaceful spot? It also seems like an afterthought to a well planned and executed memorial. Let’s hope there won’t be more “permanent loans” headed our way. At least it’s not pointed at my neighbor’s house this time.
