The Community Players present "Social Security"

Posted

The Community Players open their 98th season with Social Security, the hilarious comedy about a couple of trendy New York art dealers, David and Barbara Kahn, whose lives are upended when her mother comes to live with them. Barbara's nerdy sister Trudy and up-tight CPA husband Martin make a surprise visit to the Kahns, informing them that they have had enough of caring for the cantankerous Sophie, and need to go off to their daughter's college to save her from the horrors of sex. Written by Andrew Bergman (screenwriter of Blazing Saddles, Soapdish and Honeymoon in Vegas), Social Security is sure to hit home with anyone who has dealt with the joys and challenges of caring for an elderly parent. Social Security will be presented September14, 15, 16, 21, 22 & 23 as part of The 20th Annual Pawtucket Arts Festival. Featuring East Bay residents Joyce Leven (Seekonk), Lee Hakeem (Barrington) and David Mann (Pawtucket). Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30, with Sunday matinees at 2:00 at Jenks Auditorium, 350 Division Street Pawtucket (across from McCoy Stadium). Audiences attending opening night September 14th will be entered into a drawing for a special prize! Tickets are $18 for adults and $12 for students (group rates available for groups of 10 or more). Order e-tickets online at www.thecommunityplayers.net and print at home, or reserve at (401) 726-6860.
