To the Community:

On May 4, 2020, the Friends of Townie Athletics Organization officially launched its “Leave Your Mark, Pave the Way” Commemorative Brick project to enhance the front entrance of the new East Providence High School. It was our hope that this fundraising project would be successful and generate funds to support the athletic programs. After nineteen months, the sale has ended, and we are pleased to report that approximately 1200 bricks were purchased. Local businesses, families, graduating classes, alumni, EPHS Hall of Fame members, students, educators, and administrators -all Townie supporters during this pandemic, showed their Townie Pride by supporting this endeavor. For their generous support, we offer our sincere thanks and deepest appreciation.

To Washington Trust, we would like to publicly thank you for honoring ten local organizations or individuals who have made a significant impact on our community as “Community Leaders”. Your generous support provided ten large, inscribed bricks informing the community of their kindness, generosity and support to the citizens of East Providence. We thank you for generously honoring them in a public manner. These organizations/individuals are: East Providence Mohawks, Rumford Lions, East Providence Lions, Rotary Club of East Providence, Junior Townies, Faith & Hope-Carl Sweeney, Bread of Life Food Pantry, Scholarship Foundation of East Providence, Homestead Baking Company-Peter B. Vican, Pannone, Lopes, Devereaux, and O’Gara-Matthew A. Lopes, Jr.

All bricks that were purchased from May 2020 thru August 2021 have been installed at the front entrance to the high school. The bricks that were ordered from September 2021-December 2021 are expected to arrive in East Providence within the next couple of weeks. Installation will take place in early spring in the same area. The inscribed bricks will replace the blank pavers that are currently in the ground.

We invite all to go to the front entrance of the high school to view these bricks and witness the Townie Pride that is evident and will be a long-lasting memory for generations to come.
