Join the Dighton, Freetown and Berkley Historical Societies for a talk on "Telling Time: A History of Clocks & Watches in New England" by Bob Frishman on Sunday, March 18, 2018 at 2 PM at the Freetown Historical Society, 1 Slab Bridge Road, Assonet, MA. Learn about the history of clocks and watches in New England beginning with the arrival of the Mayflower up to the adoption of standard time by the railroads in the 19th century. This presentation will provide an overview of clock history, styles, makers, values, collecting, repairing and cultural importance. This lecture is accompanied with over 100 images of timepieces. The talk will run for less than 1 hour and is followed by an informal "road show" appraisal session. Attendees are invited to bring in old clocks or watches of their own for information and possible evaluation. The event is free and open to the public.
