Taunton Civic Chorus Keeps the 60th Celebration Going This Holiday Season!

Posted

On Dec 8, 2019, the Taunton Civic Chorus will wrap up its 60th Birthday Celebration with a holiday concert entitled By the Candlelight.

The program will feature familiar Christmas classics such as “Silent Night” and “Joy to the World” as well as contemporary Christmas tunes like “Breath of Heaven” and “Do You Hear What I Hear.” The concert will also include Hanukkah selections such as a “Hanukkah Remembrance” and “The Chanukah Song” (We are Lights).

Special guest, Dr. Fredric Scheff, will be the featured narrator and soloist. Scheff’s repertoire includes performances in opera, musical theater, classical and sacred music.

The 35-member ensemble will be led by Music Director Matt Haynes, and will be accompanied by Carolyn Melesky on the piano, and an orchestra with various musical instruments.

The Taunton Civic Chorus was founded 60 years ago by 15 charter members, made up of music lovers and music educators from Taunton and Raynham. The first concert was performed in December of 1959, and featured Mozart’s Twelfth Mass in G.

This year’s concert will be held at 6:00 p.m. at the Pilgrim Congregational Church, 45 Broadway in Taunton. Tickets are $12 for adults and $10 for seniors over 62 and children under 12. For more information, contact TCC at tauntoncivicchorus63@gmail.com.
