Sine Nomine Choral Ensemble Presents Music of the German Baroque

Posted

Sine Nomine choral ensemble continues celebrating its 25th anniversary season in February with Music of the German Baroque. The choir will be joined by a Baroque band led by Laura Gulley, assisted by Catherine Hawkes, recorder, and Heidi Dion and Lisa Babbitt, sopranos. In the words of founding director Glenn Giuttari, the concert will feature “some flashy chamber music of Telemann, Schütz's fabulous and introspective Selig sind die Toten, and Bach’s for Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring and the motet Lobet den Herrn” as well as solo works by violinist Julia McKenzie, cellist Daniel Rowe, and organist Catherine Gordon.
The February performances mark the second of three concert sets exploring a broad sweep of choral musical traditions. Subsequent concerts are scheduled May 11-12, 2018.
Sine Nomine is an auditioned chamber choir dedicated to performing early music within di-verse and innovative concert programs designed to share a passion for choral music with a wide audience. Refreshments will follow each performance.
$20 General Admission / $15 seniors & students with ID.
