Segregansett Country Club Launches New Initiatives

Taunton, Ma July 19th, 2013 While the private country club industry throughout New England continues to struggle with maintaining membership levels and income some course are finding new and innovating ways to attract new members, corporate events and family programs. While decade old models for business are failing in the private country club market some clubs are reaching out and offering new innovating programs to make there facilities more accessible to the golfing community and new players that have interest is learning the game.

Segregansett Country Club one of New England’s oldest Golf clubs was established in 1893 and was once home to U.S. Open Amateur hero Francis Ouimet. It is one of the finest designed facilities in the region with a championship 18- hole golf course, complete practice facility and clubhouse and banquet facility. The park like grounds of the club were once the summer home of James Gamble of the famous Proctor and Gamble Soap Company. In recent meetings the board of governors at the club have agreed that making their facility more available to more people through creative programs will allow many more golfers to enjoy the facility and help grow the club.

In August Segregansett will launch its “ Member for a Day” program, which will allow single players, groups and families to enjoy the club for a day and meet some of the members and the staff. Weekday tee times are available for only $40.00 with a cart and $50.00 weekends. Peter Larkin, Segregansett President, commented “ We are looking to grow the game of golf and allow more people in the region to enjoy our club. Offers family functions, weddings and business meeting facilities with or without golf included”. In addition in the months ahead the club will be launching junior programs, family events, stay & play programs and special rates for full members for as little as $1800.00 yearly.
