School Committee Member Condemns Allegations

Posted

Glenn Jefferson, a member of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School Committee, is condemning the allegations made by an anonymous resident.

The resident, who used the name Rehoboth Wikileaks, contacted the Dighton and Rehoboth police departments in an effort to obtain records about alleged threats made by Jefferson to various individuals.

The message was sent to several media outlets on Thursday. It reads as follows:

This is a request under the Massachusetts Public Records Law (M. G. L. Chapter 66, Section 10). I am requesting that I be provided a copy of the following records:

Any and all copies of call for service reports, incident reports, investigative reports, witness statements, evidentiary reports, electronic mails, text messages and any documents not specifically named herein which pertain to the investigation of alleged threatening statements made to unnamed third parties by Glenn Jefferson, a member of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District.

I also request copies of any documents that reference any other members of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District School Committee, or members of the Dighton-Rehoboth Regional School District Administration, such as (School Superintendent) Dr. Anthony Azar, who were aware of and/or interviewed in relation to these alleged incidents.

I recognize that you may charge reasonable costs for copies, as well as for personnel time needed to comply with this request. I request all copies of documents be provided in electronic format.

Jefferson believes the writer is using a fake e-mail domain.

“They are just doing everything they can try to make people look bad,” Jefferson said. “You have an individual on the school committee that will go to any extremes to try and destroy the district and anyone that wants to support it.”

Jefferson explained residents are “tired” of “the drama and wasted energy for the last 6 months over (the 2020 school) budget. These people want to take every opportunity to anonymously attack any of us that support the schools.  Myself, Dr. Azar and (school committee chairperson) Katherine (Cooper) are usually the main targets. These people shouldn't even be given the time of day.”

“Nameless and faceless individuals who make accusations do not benefit our school district and/or our students,” Azar said via e-mail.
