Robert “Bobby” J. Cavaco,59, a lifelong resident of East Providence, RI, passed away at his residence, unexpectedly on August 4, 2023. Born in Providence, Bobby was the beloved son of the late Joseph S. and Margaret A. (Murray) Cavaco. He was a graduate of East Providence High School and was a dedicated employee of the East Providence School Department for 30 years, working in the Maintenance Division before retiring four years ago.

Bobby was the brother of Joseph Cavaco of Barrington, Michael Cavaco of Rumford, Thomas S. Cavaco of East Providence, James Cavaco of Seekonk, MA, Christine Souza of East Providence, and Margaret DiIorio of Rehoboth, MA. He was predeceased by his sisters, Patricia Lima, and Elizabeth Cavaco. He was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, and he held a special place in his heart for all of them including his late nieces, Justine Cavaco and Kathryn Lima.

Bobby had a “gentle giant” nature. He had a knack for all kinds of mechanical work and was a passionate collector of tools. He was a motorcycle enthusiast. He was often seen tinkering with engines or fixing things around his home. He also had a soft spot in his heart for all animals. Bobby’s passing was a significant loss to his family and friends. As we say goodbye his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Rest in peace.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend, calling hours on Friday ,August 11,2023 from 4:00pm-7:00pm at the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2023, at 10:00am in St. Francis Xavier Church, 81 North Carpenter Street, East Providence.

Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, 550 Wampanoag Trail, East Providence.
