Rhode Island Rose Society Presents “A Brief History of the Rose through the Ages”

July 14th Meeting at Tockwotton on the Waterfront

The Rhode Island Rose Society will hold its July meeting at Tockwotton on the Waterfront in East Providence on July 14, 2018 at 9:30 AM to 12 Noon and invites the public to attend the special program presented by Mirjana Toyn from Guilford, Connecticut. Her program, “A Brief History of the Rose through the Ages,” explores the evolution of the rose from antiquity to modern times. Her slide show will explore the symbolism of the rose, the pivotal role roses played in world history and what factors contributed to the development of the modern rose as we know it today. Mirjana is past President of the Connecticut Rose Society, regularly lectures on rose culture and is the author of numerous articles appearing in publications across the country.

Following the lecture, American Rose Society Consulting Rosarians will give tips on mid-summer rose care as well as answer questions.
