Rep. Hearn presents House citation to retiring Barrington School Committee Chairwoman Kate Brody

State House — Rep. Joy Hearn (D-Dist. 66, Barrington, East Providence) presented a House citation to outgoing Barrington School Committee Chairwoman Kate Brody recently. Brody, who served on the school committee for eight years — six as chairwoman — attended her last meeting on Nov. 30.
“Kate’s dedication to the school children of Barrington is an example of public service at its finest,” said Representative Hearn, who is also retiring from her seat in the House of Representatives. “Her vision, her support and her insistence on accountability will have a lasting effect on Barrington Public Schools.”

The citation makes particular note that Brody’s “professional stewardship of the committee saw the institution of best practices throughout the District as well as the adoption of a five-year strategic plan focusing on Empowering All Students to Excel. As Chair, Kate has spearheaded the Barrington Middle School project, testifying passionately and successfully for additional State funding as well as overseeing two victorious local bond votes, Kate has carried out her responsibilities with commitment, skill and enthusiasm.”
