Recovery Center Opening in Bristol, RI

Posted

East Bay Center, a division of East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP), will open East Bay Recovery Center in partnership with Bristol Health Equity Zone (HEZ). The Center will open on March 1, 2018, at the Parish Hall of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church (across from the Church at 399 Hope Street, Bristol, RI). Its hours will be Tuesdays 9 a.m. – noon, Wednesdays 1 p.m. - 4 p.m., and Thursdays 5 p.m. – 8 p.m. No appointment is needed – walk-ins are welcome. Services are free, and it is open to all residents of RI’s East Bay region (Bristol, Warren, Barrington, East Providence, Tiverton, Little Compton, Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport, and Jamestown).

Peer-to-peer recovery services will be offered, connecting those in any type of substance abuse recovery to others in recovery and providing supports and activities that help lead to long-term recovery. Support services that will be offered include: All-Recovery Meetings, Recovery Training Series, Family Support Groups, Recovery Coaching, Social Events, Telephone Support, and Wellness Activities.

The Recovery Center aims to personalize recovery by serving as a physical location where recovery allies can organize and provide support and care. Though it is not a treatment agency or a 12-step group, features of these may be present.

Involved in the collaborative effort to create this Recovery Center were: Emily Spence, Bristol HEZ, Lieutenant Stephen St. Pierre, Bristol Police, Steven Contente, Bristol Town Administrator, Tommy Joyce, Director, East Bay Recovery Center, Ernie Thivierge, Recovery Coach, East Bay Recovery Center, and Robert Crossley, Vice President of Behavioral Health, EBCAP.

“Recovery is possible! We are pleased to open this Recovery Center, supported by our partnership with the Bristol Health Equity Zone, St. Michael’s Episcopal Church and the Town of Bristol. The Recovery Center will offer folks fellowship and support in their recovery,” said Robert Crossley, EBCAP’s Vice President of Behavioral Health.

The Recovery Center and behavioral health are part of EBCAP’s full service healthcare network, operating at locations throughout the East Bay, which also includes primary care family practice physicians and dentists.

For information please contact East Bay Center’s program director, Tommy Joyce, at 401-302-6231.

East Bay Center (EBC), a community-based lifeline of behavioral health services, provides: 24 hour emergency services/crisis intervention, counseling for adults and children, psychiatric services, medication prescription and monitoring, and substance abuse and opioid treatment services.
