Project Playground for Whiteknact School

The Whiteknact School community held a pasta dinner and fundraiser in April to raise money to build a playground for the school. The school is the last one in East Providence without a school playground. "We just want to thank all who donated, baked, supported and donated their time for our Fundraiser "Operation Whiteknact Playground", said Principal Teresa Gingrave. The school volunteers raised a little over $14,000.00. "Thank you to the community for your support," said PTA President Josh Pereira.

Hundreds of supporters dined on a home cooked pasta dinner and took chances on many donated raffle items as well as a silent auction. "With the generous donation and support from the school committee we are a third of the way to our goal," added one of the event organizers, school secretary Susan Allienello. "We are still accepting donations. Please contact the school 435-7828 for more information," Allienello added.

The effort received widespread support from the community. City council and school committee members attended as well as supporters from other schools in the city. "It is an example of how we best serve our families and show our Townie Pride," said Principal Gingrave. "We want to sincerely thank the many sponsors who donated to this cause:
