"I, and many Rumford neighbors are very upset at the lack of progress in cleaning up PondView and the lack of support from the state DEM and our own zoning official," - so said local resident Tim Horton. Horton, during an interview with the Reporter, stated that "not much has been done since the courts ordered Pondview closed and cleaned up by October 11, 2012." Pondview was closed on September 11, 2012 and was given 30 days to clean it's property of debris. A visit to the property off Dexter road in Rumford revealed several "mountain-like "piles of construction debris still in existence. "The DEM and its'director, Janice Coit violate the court order to oversee this demolition and clean-up," said Norton. "Were is our zoning officer,? Horton maintained. On December 20th many business people from the region were at Pondview to participate in an auction of machines and other company items. Pondview has been closed to the public and businesses for the collection of debris. "An $800,000 bond has been made available to cover cleanup costs and they have not adhere to court orders in a timely manner. Our zoning officer has been missing in action," continued Horton.

Many area residents are still angry at the slow pace of the cleanup and demolition of the former controversial recycling plant. The plant has been operated by Rehobth's Ken Foley since 1998. "We are outraged in Rumford that the DEM has allowed this unsafe condition to continue," said Norton. East Providence's new and current Mayor - Jim Briden - was a frequent critic of Pondview while on the campaign trail. Briden made regular appearances before the former city council to denounce the presence of the Pondview recycling operation. "Mr. Briden has been a friend to us and I am very confident that he will properly deal with this illegal operation in our neighborhood," added a very upset Tim Norton.
