Oldham School Closing - Public Meeting Jan. 23rd

A public meeting concerning the closing of Oldham School will be held on Wednesday evening, January 23rd at 7:00 PM at the Riverside Middle School on Forbes Street.

Superintendent John DeGoes told the state budget commission that he recommended the closing of Oldham but a public hearing will be held to listen to residents and parents.

The budget commission met on Thursday, January 17th at City Hall but deferred any decision to close Oldham until after the public hearing.

At the close of the meeting an Oldham parent asked the commission if they would be at the public hearing. "We don't usually go," said commission chair Diane Brennan. "Well, I would like you to attend and hear from the parents," the parent replied. "So noted," said Brennan as the meeting adjourned and went into private session to discuss labor contracts.
