D-R High School Selected as National Banner School
Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School was selected as a National Banner School by Special Olympics. D-R, a Special Olympics Unified Champion School, is one of only 10 schools in Massachusetts and 131 schools nationwide to receive the honor, according to school and media reports. Schools that receive national banner recognition have demonstrated commitment to inclusion and have met 10 national standards of excellence in activities such as Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership and Whole School Engagement.

Special Town Meeting This Month
The town will hold a Special Town Meeting on Monday, Oct. 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Dighton-Rehoboth Regional High School.

Rehoboth Teen Wins Champion Horse of the Year
Lexie Kern, 15, of Rehoboth won 2018 Champion Horse of the Year at the Eastern Exposition Hunter Horse Show held at the Big E in West Springfield in September, according to an article in the Sun Chronicle. She took first place against competitors from New York to Vermont. Kern rides at Silverstone Stables in Rehoboth. She is part of an Interscholastic Equestrian Association team.

SRPEDD Seeking Public Input
The Southeastern Regional Planning and Economic Development District (SRPEDD) is looking for public input as it updates their Regional Transportation Plan, an assessment of the area’s transportation needs over the next 20 years. SRPEDD is seeking comments on traffic congestion, transit needs, unsafe intersections, sidewalks, bike lanes and other transportation issues. They are asking residents to complete a 5-minute survey. There is a link to the survey on the town’s website under News or visit www.surveymonkey/r/RTP2019.

Early Voting Available Again for Election Day
Early Voting will be available again this year before Election Day, November 6. Registered voters will be able to vote beginning on October 22 through November 2 at 12 noon. During these dates, early voting will be available in Rehoboth at the Town Clerk’s office at town hall on Peck Street Monday to Thursday 8 am to 4 pm and Friday 8 am to 12 noon. In addition the Town Clerk is offering extended evening and weekend hours. See Town Clerk Laura Schwall’s column in this issue for further information.
