Nature Drawing: Salt Marsh - Online Art and Science Family Workshop

Posted

Register now for Monday November 27th 7-8pm Nature Drawing online art and environmental education class.

Learn about nature and how to draw different animals in a fun and easy-to-follow step-by-step process. Dive into science and explore facts about endangered animals and species of greatest conservation need (SGCN) plus how to help them. This is an online, free class. However, registration is required to access the Zoom session and obtain program materials. All ages welcome to participate.

As we select and draw one animal found in the salt marsh, together we will explore how its physical adaptations function to support its survival, growth, behavior and reproduction. We will examine its place in the food web of the salt marsh environment. And, finally, we will discuss how the animal and its habitat has been effected by human activities - agriculture, land development, and everyday life choices - as well as what individuals and communities are doing things to help protect salt marsh resources and environments.

Students from the Rhode Island School of Design will lead the drawing instruction. Each salt marsh animal is a character in the greater salt marsh story, and we will provide ideas for how to use the artwork to share this story, help raise environmental awareness and inspire positive action.
