Posted

Kaylee Duquette, 11, of Rumford, was honored with her school’s Science Award for being the only 5th grader in the East Providence School District to earn a score of Proficient with Honors on the NECAPS tests in Science. Kaylee, daughter of Bill & Christie Duquette of Rumford, is a graduating 5th grader at Myron J. Francis Elementary School. She will be attending St. Mary Academy – Bay View in the Fall.

The New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) tests in Mathematics and Reading are administered each year in October to students in grades 3 through 8 and 11; Science is administered in May. The RI Department of Education, in partnership with the Departments of Education in NH and VT, has developed a common set of Grade-Level Expectations, known as the New England Common Assessment Program Grade-Level Expectations (NECAP GLEs), and test specifications in Mathematics, Reading, and Writing. Building on the success of the NECAP collaboration in Mathematics, Reading, and Writing, the states have developed common assessment targets and test specifications for Science. The goal is for all students to score at or above the proficient level on the NECAP exam.
