Middle School Statewide Safety Poster Contest

Posted

Although schools are in pandemic mode, students from grade 6 -8 are still being offered the opportunity to compete in the statewide safety poster contest. Lt. Randy Larrivee is offering free materials to any student in either public, private, distance or home school. Prizes are awarded at both the state and county level. Besides a cash prize for 1st, and 2nd place at county and 1st,2nd, and 3rd at state level, students will get published in a calendar that is distributed all over RI and Mass. Usually a gala event for winners is held in June where awards and cash is handed out along with a gourmet dinner and a demonstration. This year however, the prizes will be sent. Last year one student from Beckwith placed 2nd at the county level and another placed 2nd at the state level. Because of the strong Fire and Life safety program that Rehoboth offers and the strong poster contest that students from Palmer River participate in the students in middle school have a very good chance of winning. While the cash and publishing are wonderful, the GRAND prize is raising awareness of how important it is for EVERYONE to practice Fire and Life safety EVERY DAY!
