Mary A. Clarke

Mary A. Clarke, 75, of Bristol and formerly of Rumford, passed away on Sunday, August 13, 2023 at her home.

Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late James F. and Marion J. (Duffy) Clark, Sr.

Mary graduated in 1966 from Convent of the Sacred Heart Elmhurst Academy in Portsmouth, RI. In 1970 she graduated from Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire, earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts. Mary then went on to Providence College earning her Masters of Education. In 1975 and 1976 she taught for the Department of Defense Dependents School in Okinawa. She was an Elementary Teacher for the Pawtucket School Department for 35 years and also became the head of guidance at Shea High School for several years before retiring. Mary was a member and President of the Ireland 32 Club and Quota Club both of Pawtucket and also volunteered at the Miriam Hospital in Providence.

She leaves one daughter, Taylor Clarke of Bristol, one granddaughter, Emily Clarke, sister in law, Mary Clark, one brother Robert Clark and his wife Patricia and one sister, Kimberly McGowan and her husband Michael. She was the sister of the late James F. Clark, Jr.

Her funeral will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023, at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-MCSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Saint Margaret’s Church, Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence. Burial will be private. Calling hours Thursday 4-7.
