Martha Rose (Smith) George, 87, of Seekonk, passed away peacefully, Monday, October 16, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center, with her beloved husband Anthony J. George at her side.

Born Sept. 9, 1930, in East Providence, she was a daughter of the late Robert and Lillian (Ebert) Smith. A lifelong dedicated educator of children, Martha retired from the Seekonk Public Schools after 23 years and after a two-year hiatus, she later taught for 10 years in the East Providence School System. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church.

In addition to her husband of 63 years, she leaves two sons, Anthony J. George Jr. of Gainesville, FL and John P. George and his wife Gale of Rehoboth; her cherished grandson, Christopher Michael George, a freshman at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst; two step grandchildren, Daryl Chabot (Chelsea) and Christopher Conlan (Anna); and four great grandchildren, Isis Conlan, Raini Conlan, Drew Chabot and Ryan Chabot.

She was also the sister of Betty Borgesson, of Cranberry, NJ, Barbara Picard of Lantana, FL, Margaret Scoggin and her husband William of Grosse Pointe, OH, Ellen McInnis of Westport, MA, Carl Smith and his wife Claire of Columbia, MD, Bruce E. Smith and his wife Elaine, of Annapolis, MD, David E. Smith and his wife Joyce of Spring Hill, FL, and of the late Carolyn Conti, the late Ruth Hale, the late Robert Smith and the late William Smith.

Her funeral will begin Saturday, Oct. 21, at 8:45am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Taunton Ave., Seekonk. Burial will follow at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, 5pm until 8pm.
