Maria R. Cunha, age 98, of Warren Ave., died June 21, 2017 at home with her loving family by her side. She was the wife of the late Manuel Bettencourt Cunha. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, she was a daughter of the late Jose I. and Filomena Rosa (de Andrade) de Melo.

She had worked as a braider tender for the former American Insulated Wire.

Maria is survived by her children; Isaltina Medina and her husband John of East Providence, Maria Jose Braga of East Providence, Joseph M. Cunha and his wife Grace of Seekonk, 11 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Manuel de Melo, Antonio de Melo, Jose de Melo, Joao de Melo and Mariana Farpelha and her late son-in-law Jose Braga.

Her funeral will begin on Monday at 9am from the Rebello Funeral Home and Crematory, 901 Broadway, East Providence, RI. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 10am in St. Francis Xavier Church, N. Carpenter St., East Providence. Burial will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 5-8pm.
