Now Open! Coming to Rhode Island: An exhibit exploring history and culture through stories
Embark on a time-traveling adventure through a “time tunnel” to learn about Rhode Island’s immigration history. Explore an imaginative interactive environment that highlights the story of an Irish immigrant who worked on the construction of Fort Adams. And discover an array of intriguing hands-on activities that explore culture and diversity and encourage empathy.

Pulleys and Gears
Wednesday, March 1 - Friday, March 3 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Kids explore simple machines in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space. Lift heavy loads with pulleys, test a network of gears, discover the power of inclined planes, and more. Underwritten by Amgen Foundation.

Toddler Try-It: Wonderful Wheels
Also Friday, March 3 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, use real tools and explore the creative process as they delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers explore steering and rolling and how wheels make the world go ‘round.

Seussational!
Saturday, March 4 & Sunday, March 5 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Celebrate Dr. Seuss's birthday with a wonderfully wacky weekend-long celebration full of crazy characters, Seussational activities, silly stories and other Seuss-inspired fun.  Underwritten by the Providence Tourism Council.

Play and Learn: Making Music
Tuesday, March 7 • 10:00 AM - Noon
Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers experiment with loud, soft, high and low sounds as they use simple instruments.

Celtic Knots
Tuesday, March 7 - Friday, March 10 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Kids learn to create their own Celtic knots using a variety of materials in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space. Design a paper mosaic knot, and create Celtic knots from laces and string.

Young children, ages 18 months to 3 years, use real tools and explore the creative process as they delve into different hands-on art and science activities each Friday morning. This week, toddlers create patterns and Celtic designs using paper shapes and sticky paper.

Engineer It! Shadow Science
Saturday, March 11 & Sunday, March 12 • 11:00 AM - 2:00 PM
Explore and experiment during a monthly series of engineering challenges. Kids investigate the science of shadows as they test objects for opacity, play with scale, and use their bodies to interrupt light beams. Recommended for ages 5 and up. Underwritten by Amgen Foundation.

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers get active and move to the rhythm of a story.
Providence Children’s Museum promotes physical play and activity as part of the national Let’s Move! initiative for children's healthy development.

Imagination Playground

Kids invent their own ways to play as they stack and build with huge blue foam blocks, wheels, spools, tubes and a variety of loose parts. Construct castles and forts, create interesting sculptures and more!  Underwritten by Dominion Foundation.

The Museum is open free from 5:00 - 8:00 PM for “MetLife Family Friday – Free at Five!,” sponsored by MetLife Foundation. Stay out late and splash, play, explore and discover! Also create a variety of Celtic knots in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space.

Tell Your Story: Shadow Puppets
Saturday, March 18 & Sunday, March 19 • 10:00 AM - 3:00 PM
In celebration of the Museum’s new Coming to Rhode Island exhibit – a time-traveling exploration of history and culture through stories – families tell their own stories with shadow puppets and silhouttes. Explore puppet-making techniques from around the world and create puppets to bring shadows to life. Underwritten by Hasbro Children’s Fund.

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers practice fine motor skills as they play in a pretend ice cream parlor.

Sculpt, build and artfully arrange an array of recycled materials – caps, tubes and other reclaimed treasures – in Discovery Studio, the Museum’s open-ended art and science exploration space. Underwritten by National Grid.

Doctors at Play

Kids are the doctors today! Assemble a doctor's bag with real hospital supplies like bandages and stethoscopes, give a teddy bear a check-up, and have a cast made on your finger, presented by Hasbro Children's Hospital Child Life Services.

Native American Tales
Sunday, March 26 • 1:00 & 2:00 PM
Storyteller Thawn Harris shares his Narragansett culture through traditional stories and songs and invites visitors to join a traditional Native American social dance. Performances at 1:00 & 2:00 PM; recommended for ages 4 and up. Underwritten by Providence Tourism Council.

Play and Learn is the Museum’s open-ended story-based program for 2- to 4-year-olds and their parents, designed to help preschoolers build their skills in a variety of areas and to help parents continue the learning at home. This week, preschoolers practice simple story-making skills as they help animals move ‘round the farm.

Providence Children’s Museum – play is powerful!
The Museum is located at 100 South Street in Providence’s Jewelry District. September through March, open Tuesday through Sunday and Monday school holidays, 9 AM to 6 PM, and selected Fridays until 8 PM. April through August, open 7 days.
