April 22, 2017 (Taunton, Mass.) Thirteen members of the GFWC Taunton Junior Woman’s Club attended the Annual Conference of GFWC of Massachusetts Junior Membership. The Taunton club was the hostess club for the Conference conducted at the Holiday Inn. Held annually in April, this meeting celebrates the achievements from the past year of the 18 clubs which comprise Junior Membership in Massachusetts. The community service projects done by local clubs are recognized and those clubs with the most outstanding projects receive awards.

The GFWC Taunton and Raynham Junior Woman’s Club is made up of women who live and work in the greater Taunton/Raynham area. The club is in its’ 67th year of volunteer service to the community and the world. They have hosted many fundraisers to benefit student scholarships and charities. Some of their more popular events are their yearly themed Teas, Soup Samplers and Foxwoods trips. They also support the homeless through Matthew’s Mission 25, our veterans, the elderly in our local nursing homes, and our local schools, and libraries. This May they will host a ‘Derby Time Tea’ and are planning a fashion show for the month of August.
At this Annual Conference, the club was recognized for their Overall Creative Excellence in Leadership, and received Special Recognition for Education, International Outreach, and Domestic Violence Awareness & Prevention programs. They also had their member Cindy Brogan chosen as the Massachusetts Martha Michalewich Clubwoman of the Year for her outstanding involvement at all levels of the organization.
