Liberty Tax Helps Raise Money for Scholarship Foundation of East Providence

East Providence, RI – (March 5, 2018) – The Liberty Tax office at 2775 Pawtucket Avenue in East Providence is devoting an entire month to fundraising for Scholarship Foundation of East Providence. During March, Liberty Tax will take $50 off income tax preparation fees for each customer who makes a donation of $50 or more to Scholarship Foundation of East Providence.

“I attended Scholarship Foundation of East Providence’s 2017 Annual Holiday Breakfast in November, and I was thrilled to see the great work this organization has been doing for over 49 years for the East Providence community,” said Paul Pliakas of Liberty Tax. “There is nothing more important than helping to make post-secondary education more affordable and accessible to young people in East Providence.”

Scholarship Foundation of East Providence helps local residents pay for their college and post-secondary education. Each student selected for a scholarship receives a minimum of $1,000. In 2017, the Foundation awarded $158,000 to 150 recipients.

“College costs continue to rise every year, and our students need help paying for their education,” said Louise Paiva, Board Member of the foundation. “Everyone at Scholarship Foundation of East Providence is committed to continuing to make these funds available to local East Providence residents.”

Scholarship Foundation of East Providence is a 501 (c)(3) tax-exempt charitable organization. More than 3,000 East Providence students have benefitted from over $3 million in scholarships since the Foundation started over 49 years ago.
