Junior Achievement of Rhode Island Receives $14,875 Grant to Support Middle School Education Programs

Posted

Rhode Island --- Junior Achievement of Rhode Island, which provides programs on workforce readiness, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy, announced it has received a $14,875 grant from the Travelers Foundation, the charitable arm of The Travelers Companies, Inc. The grant will support the expansion of JA’s middle school education programs.

The middle school programs build on concepts the students learned in Junior Achievement's elementary school program and help teens make difficult decisions about how to best prepare for their educational and professional future. The programs supplement standard social studies curricula and develop communication skills that are essential to success in the business world.

"As one of our country's predominant insurance companies, we are pleased to have the support of Travelers." said Lee Lewis, president of Junior Achievement of Rhode Island. "This grant will help JA to continue to provide youth in Rhode Island with the skills they need to survive, thrive and contribute to our state and regional economy."

"Travelers understands that today's students are tomorrow's workforce,” said Rita Ortiz, Director of Employee Engagement. “We are committed to ensuring that all young people are given the tools and opportunities they need to succeed in school and life, and we have been very impressed with the work JA has done to prepare students for success after graduation.”
