Posted

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Jean C. Maxwell, at the age of 94. She departed peacefully on March 13, 2024.

Born on February 9, 1930, in Norwalk, Connecticut, Jean grew up in New England, where she embraced the values of family, community, and resilience. She was a devoted mother to her five children and a loving grandmother to her 17 grandchildren.

Married to Hugh C. Maxwell for 31 years, Jean leaves behind a legacy of love and compassion. She was a pillar of strength and support, whose kindness touched the lives of everyone she met. Her unwavering faith and gentle spirit were a source of inspiration to all who knew her.

"To the world you are a mother, but to your family you are the world."

Jean is survived by her sons, John Maxwell, Doug Maxwell, Carl Maxwell, and daughter Laura Leonardi, as well as her brothers George Morrissette, Ronald Morrissette, Robert Morrissette, and sister Susan Gonsalves. She is predeceased by her daughter, Joyce Edwards. Jean had sixteen grandchildren, as well as many great-grandchildren. Sadly, her grandson Matthew J. Maxwell passed away in December.

Jean enjoyed golf, walks on Falmouth Heights Beach, and was a proud member of the Florida Columbiettes. She cherished her family reunions and spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She will be deeply missed by her family and dear friends.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial Saturday April 27th at 10 AM at the Church of St. Teresa of the Child Jesus,358 Newport Avenue, Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

Jean will be laid to rest at Swan Point Cemetery in Providence.

Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted.

We will always carry your memory in our hearts, and your legacy will continue to live on through us. Rest in peace, dear mother. You will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
