Holy Week Events at The Barrington United Methodist Church

Posted

Palm/Passion Sunday: April 9th
9:30 AM Celebratory Worship Service, led by Rev. Ames, containing with both upbeat praise and somber music as we follow Christ's journey as he enters Jerusalem and faces his last week before his crucifixion.

Good Friday Service: April 14th at 7:00 PM; led by Rev. Dan Ames
This service is based on the Stations of The Cross - a devotion that was developed in the Middle Ages by the Franciscans as a way of allowing people who could not travel to the Holy Land to walk where Christ walked on the day of his passion. It is our prayer that you will relax - and enter into the experience of Christ's passion, that you may know the meaning of what our Lord has done for us.

Easter Resurrection Service: April 16th at 9:30 AM
This celebratory worship service is full of fresh flowers, lively music, and a message of hope from Rev. Ames. After Children's Moments, the children are welcome to join in an Easter craft and egg hunt.

"On Easter Sunday (April 16th) The Barrington United Methodist Church (230 Washington Road) will welcome a special guest participant in our music-in-worship ministry. He is Andrew T. Rogers, a senior at East Providence High School. Andrew, over 6' tall, has been playing trumpet for over 7 years, starting at age 11, when in school he was invited along with other students to consider learning how to play a musical instrument of his choice. He chose the trumpet, and ever since then, he has been playing in the high school band and the school's jazz band. He has especially enjoyed playing at high school football games as well as at other school & community events. In addition, he is in his second year as a student at the Rhode Island Philharmonic Music School in East Providence. He has already played important roles in several of the school's wind ensemble concerts at different venues in the local area.

His dad & his mom are both employed by Brown University, his dad as a Systems Manager for an IT unit in the Psychology Department, and his mom as a Data Analyst for the Public Health Agency at the university. His dad plays the guitar and is beginning piano lessons. His younger brother already plays the clarinet and saxophone.

Andrew has heard from nearly all 10 of the colleges he has applied to for next fall, has been accepted by all of them, and is presently interested in majoring in biology. Our church is the first church setting in which he has ever performed. So… let us all make him feel at home on April 16th, Easter Sunday, at The Barrington United Methodist Church and be sure to bring a friend or two!"
