Harold Jencks Hubbard, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017 at the Brookdale Sakonnet Bay Senior Living in Tiverton, R.I.

He was a resident of Seekonk for most of his life.

Born in Providence on July 26, 1920, he was the son of the late Gaius W. Hubbard Jr. and Florence (Jencks) Hubbard.

He was the beloved husband of the late Zelma Madeline (Little) Hubbard, who passed in 2010.

He was educated in Seekonk and East Providence schools, later receiving his bachelor of science degree in accounting, summa cum laude, from Bryant College.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and also served as the president of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in the State of Rhode Island. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends at his summer cottage in Dartmouth, Mass. that he built with the help of his four sons.

Harold was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He would speak often of his friends and the time that he spent in the service stationed in India. He used his skills as an accountant for the war effort.

In 1946, after the war, he began his career accumulating over 30 years of experience as an accountant and a controller of various businesses. Included among these were the Maxim Motors, Co. in Middleborough, Mass., manufacturer of fire trucks and aerial ladders, and the George W. Dahl Co. of Bristol, R.I.

His four sons and their wives survive him: Bruce and Mary of Dartmouth, Gary and Pamela of Ormond Beach, Fla., Marcus and Pauline of Seekonk, and Jon and Marlene of Bar Harbor, Maine. His legacy includes nine grandchildren: Meghan, Nathan, Timothy, Amy, Nicholas, Lucas, and step-grandchildren, Julia, Caroline and Matthew; and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 16 at 11 a.m. in the Seekonk Congregational Church, 600 Fall River Ave., Seekonk, MA 02771.

Calling hours and flowers are respectfully omitted. Memorial gifts may be directed to the church.

Arrangements have been entrusted to J.H. Williams & Co. Funeral Home, 210 Taunton Ave., East Providence.

Interment at the Springvale Cemetery in Rumford, R.I. is private.
