Gerald Leddy, 75, peacefully passed away on May 21, 2018 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center. He was the beloved husband of Judith Leddy, father to Christine Champigny, Michael (Renee) Leddy, stepson Chris Gallagher, grandfather to Jeffrey, Alexa, Ashlyn, and Kaitlin, and great-grandfather to Charlie Rose, and brother of Frank Leddy and Jean Popolillo. He was predeceased in death by his loving son James, and parents Elizabeth (Chace) and Frank Leddy.

Jerry dedicated his life to the fire service, and cherished every moment working as an emergency responder. He recently said that he wouldn’t change one day of his career. His journey began in 1967, when he was hired as Providence firefighter. Ten years later he joined the RI State Fire Marshal's Office, where he served for 20 years as a Deputy State Fire Marshall and later as a Senior Investigator.

He attended the FBI Law Officers’ Training School in Quantico, VA, and was a certified polygraph expert and bomb technician. Jerry enjoyed sharing his firefighting knowledge, and he taught arson investigation and explosives at the RI Fire Academy and Police Academy. He also lectured at local colleges.

During the winter months, Jerry could be found relaxing in his beach chair and relishing the Florida sunshine. He also delighted in taking cruise vacations with his wife, friends, and family. He had an incredible sense of humor, which had those around him laughing and smiling. He’ll be dearly missed by all.
