Esther (Blanck) Silva

Esther (Blanck) Silva of East Providence, RI passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at age 90. She was the beloved wife of the late Manuel Silva.


Born in Germany, Esther came to East Providence as a young woman where she and her husband raised their family. She was most happy the day she became an American citizen, while still being so proud of her German roots and passing that pride on to her children. She enjoyed gardening, and it showed throughout her large yard.


Esther was the loving mother of Peggy Mercurio of East Providence; Lorraine Norrell (James) of Portsmouth, RI; David M. Silva, Sr. (Sharon Murray) of Cranston, RI; and George M. Silva (Kathy McCarty) of Plymouth, MA.


She also leaves nine grandchildren, Kara Fortes, Edward Sovis, Jr., Michael Mercurio, Lisa Silva-DeAngelus, Kristina Mercurio-Pope, David M. Silva, Jr., Travis Norrell, Corey Norrell and Nikki Woodacre, eleven great grandchildren, Hannah Sovis, Alexander Silva, Breah Fortes, Karisa Lucie Fortes, Brayden Fortes, Kaylee Norrell, Ethan Murcurio, Lucie Pope, Luke Woodacre, Toby Silva, Sailor Hope-Silva and two great great grandchildren, Ella and Richard Hartmann. .


Esther’s family would like to thank the entire staff at Tockwotton Home for their kindness and care of Esther in her last days.
