EPPC Annual Meeting & Recognition Celebration 2013

The East Providence Prevention Coalition (EPPC) Board of Directors held its annual meeting on Monday, June 17. In addition to all EPPC board members and staff receiving certificates and tokens of appreciation, the “Partners In Prevention Awards” were also given out. These awards were presented to each of the following individuals or organizations/businesses for their leadership and dedication to the EPPC in its pursuit to keep Townies safe and healthy.

Legislative grant sponsor Senator Daniel Daponte; restricting youth access to E-Cigarettes advocate Representative Helio Melo; prevention champions the East Providence Police Department; family fun day supporters the East Providence Carousel Commission, 212 Health and Performance and Navigant Bank; community service volunteers the East Providence Police Explorers Post #750; Townie Leadership Academy advocates senior high school athlete Ben Veiga, junior high school athlete Rachael Finn, EP High School vice principal Shani Wallace, Newman YMCA staff Erik Stringfellow and Jake Northup, and community volunteer Kyle Walmsley; Bridgewater State University Seniors Ajit Thapa and Jigyasha Singh; community partner Sovereign Bank; community volunteers the East Providence Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association; state funder, the RI Justice Commission; and alcohol compliance check officers Lt. William Nebus and Sgt. Mike Grant.

The board also unanimously voted in new officers all of which will be serving their second terms: Katie Saraiva, Chairwoman; Courtney Lacerda, Vice Chairwoman and Scott Rose, Treasurer.

The East Providence Prevention Coalition’s Board of Directors will reconvene on September 16, 2013 at 6pm in room 306 at East Providence City Hall.

The EPPC supports the well being of the East Providence community. They accomplish this by offering training, education and a youth leadership program.
