If you are a fan of old tools, really old tools, you won’t want to miss this exhibit. Then there is the pottery made especially for chemical processing which is a wonder in itself. This is all part of the Rumford Chemical Co. early manufacturing process and part of the broader look at the company and how it shaped the northern part of our City. Come taste Rumford recipes and check out the progress in the “Rumford” basement.

General Meeting: Monday - May 21 - 6 pm - guided tour /7pm Talk
“Welcome to the USS Rumford”

The Wolf School - 215 Ferris Avenue 02916

The Wolf School was originally called the Thompson School which was built on the site of the old Rumford Rifle Range which was on the site of the WW1 Naval Installation there. Got all that? 100 years ago, that installation served as a hospital for the local pop-ulation battling the 1918 flu pandemic. Member presenter, Leo Caisse, who has been re-searching the history of that spot, will lead tours of the site starting at 6pm (meet in the Kimberly Ann Rock parking lot) and will give a presentation at 7pm in the Wolf School gym. Rumford recipe desserts/coffee will be served in the gym starting at 6:30

The EPHS is a volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of local history.
