Charles “Charlie” H. Apuzzo, 87 years old died on November 24, 2019.

He was the beloved husband of Ann (Ferris) Apuzzo for 63 years.

Born in New Haven CT, he was the son of the late Louis and Mary (Cifarelli) Apuzzo.

He graduated from Wilbur Cross High School in 1951. Charlie served in the US Army in the 11th Artillery in 1954 and fought in the Korean War. Charlie and Ann relocated to Rhode Island and settled in Rumford where he raised his family and was a resident for 54 years. Charlie was a risk-taker and worked many different jobs before settling on a career that blended his love of the outdoors and saltwater fishing. He built a business selling and distributing fish and tackle in the northeast for 30 years.Charlie was an avid sport fisherman, whose love of the outdoors and particularly the ocean lead him to advocate for public access points for fishing all along the Narragansett Bay and beyond. He shared his love of fishing with family and friends.

Besides his wife Ann, he leaves his sons Robert C. Apuzzo and his wife Kimberly of Seekonk, MA, David G. Apuzzo and his wife Kristen of North Scituate, RI, and his daughter Karen Apuzzo Langton and her husband Paul of Holliston, MA. He was the brother of the late Josephine Civitelli, Mary Waldman, Joseph Apuzzo, John Apuzzo, James Apuzzo, and Rose Apuzzo. He was the loving grandfather of Courtney Nardozza, Randy Apuzzo, Kyle Apuzzo and Flannery Rose Langton. He was the great grandfather to Milly Nardozza and Elyza Apuzzo. He had many nieces and nephews.

His funeral will be held on Monday, December 2, 2019 at 9:00 AM from the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in St. Margaret’s Church, 1098 Pawtucket Avenue, Rumford. Burial with Military Honors will be in the Rhode Island Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 301 South County Trail Exeter, RI. Calling hours will be on Sunday from 4-6 PM. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Disabled Veterans National Foundation, 4601 Forbes Boulevard, Lanham, MD 20706 and HopeHealth Hospice, 1085 North Main Street, Providence, RI 02904.
