Call for Nominations for Save The Bay Environmental Awards

Providence, R.I. – Feb. 19, 2019 – Now through March 30, Save The Bay is accepting community nominations for its 2019 Environmental Achievement Award and Alison J. Walsh Award for Outstanding Environmental Advocacy.
The Environmental Achievement Award is presented annually to individuals, corporations or organizations that have demonstrated outstanding leadership and commitment to the environmental protection of Narragansett Bay and its watershed.

The Alison J. Walsh Award for Outstanding Environmental Advocacy is awarded annually to an individual who has displayed an extraordinary commitment to the environmental protection of Narragansett Bay and its watershed through advocacy, community leadership and/or direct action. The winner of this award receives a $1,000 stipend.

"Save The Bay’s success in protecting and improving Narragansett Bay over the past nearly 50 years has depended on the active involvement and stewardship of countless others. The annual environmental awards are our way of recognizing some of them for their efforts," said Save The Bay Executive Director Jonathan Stone. "We encourage community members to nominate those who exemplify dedicated stewardship of Narragansett Bay and its watershed."

The submission deadline for nominations is March 30, 2019. Winners will be announced and awards presented at the Save The Bay’s Annual Meeting and Taste of The Bay event on June 13, 2019.

Last year’s award recipients were:
•Environmental Achievement Award — Rhode Island Saltwater Anglers Association for its efforts promoting conservation and public access.
•Alison J. Walsh Award for Outstanding Environmental Advocacy — Barbara Rubine, of Cranston, for her decades of work with the Edgewood Waterfront Preservation Association.
