Providence, R.I. – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence (BGC Providence), the oldest continually-operating Boys & Girls Club in the country, today announced that Mary Anne Stchur has been hired as its new Director of Philanthropy. Mary Anne joins BGC Providence with nearly two decades of fundraising and campaign management experience.

Mary Anne brings to BGC Providence a wealth of experience cultivating and enhancing relationships with donors, foundations, board members and volunteers to create successful fundraising initiatives and annual funds. In her new role, she provides strategic and administrative oversight of BGC Providence’s variety of fundraising programs. Stchur also partners with the CEO to advance the organization’s mission of changing the lives of local youth through education and job-training to break the cycle of poverty many members experience by creating new pathways to increase philanthropic support for the organization.

“Mary Anne’s passion, not only for fundraising, but also for the wellbeing and future success of our youth will be a tremendous asset to our organization and truly set her apart from a vast pool of candidates,” said Nicole Dufresne, Chief Executive Officer of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Providence. “The community’s support is crucial to our work, particularly in providing for the educational programming that directly benefits our youth as more than eighty percent of our members live in poverty—I’m deeply excited about the energy and ideas Mary Anne brings to our organization.”

She also oversaw all grants, database functions, and communications efforts across the organization. Mary Anne began her development career at The Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, CT as Director of Annual Giving, and also managed annual giving and membership for the Delaware Art Museum.

Mary Anne and her husband, Peter, and their two children, Peter IV and Madeline, live in Rehoboth, MA. She holds a Bachelors Degree in Business & Healthcare Administration from Wilkes University in Pennsylvania.
